World Ocean Day Activities

Each year on June 8, people all over the world celebrate World Ocean Day. Similar to Earth Day and World Environment Day, this day inspires people to learn about and protect our oceans. With so much sea life, tourism, and transportation depending on the world’s oceans, it is important to develop an understanding of how valuable this majestic natural resource truly is.
In schools all over, classroom communities and students study the ocean and learn about some of the challenges it faces. For instance, overfishing and pollution harm the ocean and creatures who live in it. In addition, these practices can make the oceans less welcoming and safe for humans to enjoy.
As you plan your World Ocean Day activities and lesson plan, consider what will inspire your students the most! Do they especially love sea life? Do they live near the ocean or far away? These inquiries can help you execute your best and most meaningful plans for the learners in your classroom.
