Spelling Tips That Actually Work
Long words become manageable chunks. “Definitely” = def-i-nite-ly. “Wednesday” = Wed-nes-day.
Exaggerate pronunciation to remember tricky letters. Say “Feb-RU-ary” and “choc-O-late” even if it sounds funny.
Memory tricks make spelling stick. “Necessary has one collar (c) and two sleeves (ss).” “There’s A RAT in sepARAte.”
Recognizing word parts helps: un-, re-, -tion, -ment. “Misspell” = mis + spell (that’s why it has two S’s).
