1st Grade Spelling Words

Our 1st grade spelling words are broken down into a convenient scope and sequence across 36 weeks to take you through the whole school year! As you can see by the scope and sequence sheet, we start off the program with a CVC words review (weeks 1-3), then moving on to CVCe words (weeks 4-6), word blends (weeks 7-9), open syllables (weeks 10-12), glued sounds (weeks 13-15), double consonants (weeks 16-18), long vowel teams (weeks 19-21), R-controlled vowels (weeks 22-24), diphthongs (weeks 25-27), final syllable -le (weeks 28-30), and suffixes and prefixes (weeks 31-36). In addition, we include bonus words and Dolch sight words on each weekly list. You’ll find each of the first grade spelling words lists below in individual, printable PDFs.
