A Wonderful Holiday Writing Activity
With this one-page downloadable worksheet, writers will first draw a holiday scene that would bring them joy. Ask them to add as much detail and color as possible to get their imaginations whirring with ideas. After students complete their drawing and coloring, they will turn that drawing into a short story or explanation. After students have written their stories, encourage them to proofread to reinforce the importance of revising one's writing. As an additional collborative writing strategy, ask students to read each other's stories to help add details or enhance the vocabulary. Always ensure pairings of students are thoughtful.
