Adjective or Adverb

As your students learn the different parts of speech, differentiating between adverbs and adjectives is an important part of their skill development. First, provide students with a reminder about the difference between adverbs and adjectives. After students feel clear on these separate definitions, have them review the nine words in the center of the document. Once they've reviewed all the words, it will be their job to determine whether or not the word is an adjective or an adverb. For students who need greater challenge, ask them to continue their learning by brainstorming words that fit into either column. Ask them to look around their learning space and determine words that might be adverbs or adjectives and sort them appropriately. This printable PDF on adverbs is a great way to engage your learners!
