Analyzing Limericks Activity

Students engaged in poetry units must have exposure to different kinds of poems. This worksheet helps students understand limericks, including the structure of a limerick and the rhyme pattern. First, students will read the limerick, have a chance to define vocabulary words like "garment" and "crepe," draw a visual, and determine which words rhyme in the poem. Use this as a resource to supplement student learning by extending and challenging or reviewing what they've learned about limericks. When analyzing poetry, limericks can offer a good opportunity for students to learn about the unique structure and style. Check out all of our pdf activities about limerick poetry.
