Verb Tenses Worksheets, Definition, Examples
Here’s our collection of verb tenses worksheets. Verb tenses are the forms of verbs that show when an action or state occurs in time. There are three main tenses: past, present, and future. While there are other subdivisions like simple, continuous, and perfect we’re focusing on the basic three.
- Present tense: Describes actions or states happening now or general truths. Example: She works at the library. (simple present)
- Past tense: Describes actions or states that occurred in the past. Example: He walked to the store yesterday. (simple past)
- Future tense: Describes actions or states that will happen in the future. Example: They will travel to Japan next month. (simple future)
Students usually start learning about verb tenses in elementary school, around the age of 7 or 8. As they progress, they learn more advanced tenses and their usage in different contexts.
