Fill in the Blank Limerick Activity
Limericks are five-line poems that follow a specific rhyme pattern. Download this one-page exercise about a curious and silly kitty who makes a surprising discovery upon waking from its nap. Once students use the model poem to understand what a limerick is, they will have an opportunity to fill-in-the-blanks in a poem about a dog. Remind students to use their limerick anchor chart so they understand the rhyme scheme they need to follow and encourage them to use diverse vocabulary. This is a great activity for increasing engagement and student motivation to learn. The fusion of collaboration and limericks can make for a fun classwork activity on limericks.
