Limerick Poetry Matching Activity

As a resource for teaching limericks, this one-page four-question worksheet is a great way to get learners thinking about how poetry can create images in our minds. After reading each limerick, students will match the main idea or subject of that limerick to a coordinating graphic. For students who are visually inclined or need support with visualizing what they read, use this tool to meet their needs or challenge others. To promote further learning, encourage students to suggest additional images and graphics that come to mind for each limerick. As a whole-class activity, this can promote dialogue in the classroom and powerful collaborative ideation. Check out all of our limerick poem printables.
