Ode Poetry Writing Activity

A great way to get started with ode poetry is to have students write their own using a fill-in-the-blank poetry template. First, students will choose a favorite pet, object, etc. Second, they will complete the sentences for their ode poem and finally, they'll draw a picture that goes with the poem. Have students share with one another and then display these on a bulletin board for all to see. Students will enjoy seeing each other's ode poems and the pictures will bring emphasis to what their classmates love most. A great September back-to-school poetry activity, for certain!
