Understanding Free Verse Poetry Activity

Free verse poetry can be fun to write and understanding the fluidity of this type of poetry is important. In addition, students must learn that free verse poetry is more flexible and unique compared to poetry that follows a strict rhyme pattern. This single-page handout has nine different poetry verses that students can analyze. After reviewing them, students will select which verses would be most likely to appear in a free verse poem.
