Acrostic Poem Writing Activity

Social emotional learning is an important part of any classroom and poetry is all about connecting with language in order to express one's thoughts. This single-sheet handout for elementary school students about acrostics has two parts. In this first portion of the sheet, students will review what an acrostic is by reading a poem that uses the word "happy" to connect with that emotion. Then students will select their own word to write unique poetry. They can choose an emotion or you can differentiate this worksheet for your students collectively or individually.
