Compare Linking Verbs and Helping Verbs with Being Verbs

Learning verb types in isolation is always helpful. However, in order to stimulate higher order thinking, students should practice differentiating between verbs. On this graphic, students will learn the difference between linking verbs, helping verbs, and being verbs. Ask students look at each word, have them point to a word, and then use that word in a sentence either by saying that sentence or writing it down. This particular worksheet would also make for a great reference. Leave it in your resources corner or post it online for quick reference for your learners and their parents.
