Repetition in Poetry Drawing Activity
In "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," a poem from Jane Taylor, she uses references to stars and the sky in order to engage the reader in thoughts about those subjects. For elementary school learners, this familiar poem can be a great way for them to review how all of the details fit together to complete a fantastic poem. After reading the poem several times, students will have the opportunity to represent their learning in pictures. Encourage them to return to the poem repeatedly so that they can showcase their best drawings and those that capture the most repeated phrases and words in the poem.
